Can A Single Small Brown Bump At The Base Of My Penis Be Related To HPV?
I have a single small brown bump at the base of my penis and I am in very great shape and have no symptoms what so ever. I have has always had protected sex so i'm not too worried. But on the other hand i went to a HPV website and i kind of got scared. It's confusing though, because it never appeared until I shaved my pubic hair.
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic.
Hpv is the cause of genital warts, which is an STD. Protected sex is not a 100% surety against Hpv because a condom covers only part of the shaft of penis and therefore leaves a lot of uncovered area e.g base of penis and surrounding pubic region, exposed for skin-to-skin contact with a possibly infected skin surface of sexual partners. Therefore, development of a bump at the base of penile shaft should not be ignored as a non entity. Genital warts can be very easily diagnosed by there appearance. They are soft, skin coloured, cauliflower shaped and completely asymptomatic. I suggest you to visit a specialist for a confirmatory diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Genitals warts are usually either Freezed or Lasered with a Co 2 Laser.
