Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
On Wednesday the 21st I received a steroid injection in my buttocks to treat a severe rash. My period is very regular and was due to arrive on Wed May 28th and I still have not gotten it. Is having this injection delaying it, I am in a stable relationship, on the pill/oral contraception, and having sex has been infrequent over the past 4 weeks because of travelling.
Yes, it is possible that the steroid injection played in role in the delay of your period. Steroids are a type of hormone and can affect other hormone levels including hormones related to the reproductive cycle.
If you regularly take your contraception , this would reduce the probability of pregnancy , making this an unlikely reason for the delay.
It should start to regularize with your next cycle.
I hope this helps
