Can A Tampon Stuck Inside The Vagina For 2 Days Cause Any Complications?

I had a tampon stuck up in my vagina ,I been having a foul smell and watery discharge, I thought it was a bacterial infection I bought vagiclin pessaries and used one last night, I noticed the tampon while in the shower, so I managed to remove it It stayed there for two days, should I be worried about any complications?

Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I read your query and here is my answer.
It looked like your tampoon had already given you bacterial infection which can be treated by antibiotics like metronidazole. However if you do run fever or there is constant backache, then the infection may have spread for which you will need to see a doctor. Otherwise the scenario you described is mild and can be treated with antibiotics easily.
Hope i answered your question. feel free to ask for further assistance. Thanks.
