Can A Torn Shoulder Muscle Cause Severe Pain In The Shoulder?

Last Friday I m pretty sure I popped my shoulder out of place and then when I moved my arm it popped back in place. I went and saw a doctor and got an X-ray. They said they didn t see anything. So they said I strained it and put me in a sling. Over the last couple days I have been in extreme pain. I have tried taking pain medicine and icing it and nothing has helped. Could I have possibly torn something?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it is due to torn muscles or ligament injury.
You can consult an orthopaedician and get an MRI scan( ligament and tendon involvement is not detected in X-ray).
As of now you can take analgesics like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
