Can A Virus Cause Residual Tiredness And Excessive Sleeping?

Hi, My daughter seems to be tired. She is twelve years old. This started about a month ago when she caught a virus and throught up for a day. She recovered somewhat after a week but never 100%. She went throught her exams in school with success, but now she can easily sleep 12 hours. Should I be worried?

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi,

By what you say I feel that she may be having chronic fatigue syndrome because of Epstein Barr virus or any other chronic viral illness.

I suggest you get her evaluated for Epstein-Barr virus infection by serological testing and then proceed further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
