Can A Welt On Inner Arm Near Elbow That Is Tender To Touch Be Due The Poison Ivy Attack ?
I had poison ivy, got a cortizone shot and am now on prednisone, I have developed a quarter sized welt on my other inner arm near my elbow, it is not overly painful but it is tender to the touch. During my poison ivy attack I did a lot of scratching in that area
I would keep a possibility of Bacterial Infection secondary to scratching.
If i was your treating doctor i would have asked you to take a week of oral antibiotics(Penicillin group) for a week.
An OTC topical antimicrobial like Mupirocin will help in resolving the infection faster.
take care regards
