Can Abnormal TSH Level A Pregnant Woman And Her Child?
Hello, I am 20 weeks pregnant and my age is 28. My TSH level in first trimester was 8.28 mIU/ml and in second trimester (20th week) it was 4.85 uIU/ml. I want to know about probable effect of my TSH level and my health on my baby so far. Is development of my baby normal so far ? Or there is probability of any defect in my baby ?
Normal leves of TSH during the first, second and third trimesters of pregnancy are less than 2.50iu/l, 3.0 iu/l and 3.0 iu/l, respectively. there is association between high TSH levels in maternal blood and risk of impaired fetal neurodevelopment, pregnancy loss and preeclampsia (among others). High TSH levels imply low production of thyroid hormones. TSH should be performed at the first antenatal visit and if normal values are not met T4 (thyroid hormone) supplementation should be considered. Hypothyroidism is not a cause of structural fetal malformation per se
