Can Alcohol Be Consumed While On Clindamycin?

Hello. I just started taking clindamycin for a subsantial tooth infection - tooth will need a root canal. Am about to go on beach vacation for a week and hesitant to have procedure done beforehand, as my usual endodontist is out of town and would have to use someone I am not familiar with. Assuming pain will become more tolerable as I get more antibiotic in my system and I will be able to resume solid food (liquid/soft foods now.) Long story longer, (sorry) - Will I be able to drink alcoholic beverages (moderately) while on that medication on my vacation? Thank you for your opinion.

Hence, moderation is important with alcohol and antibiotic interaction. The interaction between Clindamycin and alcohol can creates the following side effects: Nausea, Dizziness, Vomiting and Upset Stomach. Stop taking Clindamycin if you experience any of these side effects and consult your doctor immediately. Alcoholic beverages will not affect the efficacy of Clindamycin antibiotic. On the other hand, if you are taking pain medications along with it, you have to be careful as the alcohol can potentially increase the side effects of the pain medications.
