Can Alcohol Cause Variation In Thyroid Levels?

My husband drank alcohol of a large quantity sunday evening, He went to his regular doctors appt to have his normal 6 month blood pressure and Cholesterol tested at 9am the next morning. His thyroid number came back 0. Could alcohol have caused this number?

I don't think you can have a thyroid result of zero. There are many thyroid tests. The thyroid hormones can be low if you don't have a thyroid. zero would be an absolute absence of a thyroid. Thyroid stimulating hormone goes lower if your thyroid puts out too much hormone (no stimulation needed) or if one takes a lot of thyroid hormone. But it's not common for any of the tests to be "zero". So, don't think it can be alcohol unless the lab technician running the test was drunk and put a wrong number into the results.
