Hi I started taking althea pills this month my OB advise me to take it on the 3rd day of my period.. I m on my 5th tablet now, what I notice is that I felt a little tenderness in my breast but not hard its not that painful but is it normal to feel that way? when is the best time to have contact since Im on my fifth tablet is it ok not to use condom? Thanks.
Althea contains both ethinyl estradiol and cryproterone which is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses. It is also used to treat acnes as it helps to reduce sebum secretion. This pill is recommended to start on the first day of the menstrual bleeding, but it can be started any day of the menstrual periods. You should use back methods like condoms for 7 days after start taking this medication to avoid any unwanted pregnancies, because this medication may take some time before showing its full effectiveness. Althea pill can cause side effects like enlargement of the breast and breast tenderness. This side effect is mild and self limiting as well as it will go away with the passing of time as your body adjusts to this pill. But, if this side effect persists for long or bother you, then you should consult your doctor first for medical attention.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
