Can An Alternative Of Bactrim Be Taken For A Laceration On The Hand?
I have been taking Bactrim for 3 days now for a bad laceration to my hand. I have been sick since I started this med. I have been overly nauseated, dizzy and bad stomach pains. Is there another med I can take rather than the Bactrim or do I need to take Zofran with it.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If you have already taken Bactrim for 3 days and if now the lacerated wound has started healing then you need not to take antibiotics further. In case if the wound is still raw or infected and if there is amy associated medical condition like Diabetes then better consult an Emergency room and get evaluated. You can be advised antibiotics like Ciprofloxacin oral as well as injectable for healing faster. Also appropriate antiseptic dressing like cleaning the wound with Betadine solution and applying antiseptic ointment like Soframycin can help in improvement.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
