Can An Insect Bite Cause A Red Raised Bump On The Right Upper Calf?
On the side of my right upper calf I have what appears to be an insect bite of some kind, probably an indoor bug, as I am not often outdoors. It is red, raised in a hard mound, with no symptoms. I have treated it one day with tea tree oil with no change. Do I need to see a dermatologist?
Red raised bump can be probably due to insect bite..
When there is an insect bite there is accumulation of toxic chemical under the skin causing a localised allergic reaction..
At times there can be stinger embedded under the skin and it can cause continuous toxin release and cause the symptoms to persist.
Do not worry as it can take some time to resolve..
First of all have a close look over the lump and see if the stinger is embedded under the skin and if present remove it using tweezers.
You can apply a combination of steroid and antiseptic ointment over it. Do cool compresses over it.. If it does not improve or worsen then you can consul an Emergency room and get evaluated..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
