Can An Insect Bite Cause Painful Swelling In The Arm And Fever?

I have a progressive swelling in my left arm originating at my elbow and moving towards my hand. Cause is unknown. Might be from a small cut or bug bite? Pain is worse at the elbow and regresses as it moves down the swelling. There is a bruise at the elbow about the size of a quarter. I am currently on cephalexin 500mg. and doxycycline 1000mg. Slight fever 99.3

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes it is possible if ilthe bite misquoto or tick bite lead to rash seen in malaria, dengue or rocky mountain spotted fever or tularemia or Lyme's disease etc. Continue capsule Doxycycline twice a day for five days. continue Cephalexin twice a day for five days. Use tablet limcee 500 once a day. Use moisturizer cream locally. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
