Can Anti-depressant Drugs Be Taken With Anti-anxiety Drugs?
Is it safe to take two different anti depressant ,anti anxiety drug,? I was in a MVA back in October. of 2013, and suffering from PTSD from what my PCP is telling me that I got from my accident. My neurologist just reviewed my EEG and and was told of discharge on the left side of my brain, everything on my left side were the point of impact from my accident.
Since both the drugs basically depress the brain functions and given together there is increased risk of sedation like drowsiness, respiratory depression ( your breathing may slow down) which can be more dangerous. The dosages of both the medicines should be adjusted in a way to have least possibilities of the harmful effects but not compromising the beneficial effects.
Welcome to HCM! I can appreciate your concern. Incomplete date like age and gender. Usually these drugs are not given together because they are known to cause more drowsiness, sleep, some times the depression caused by this combination can result in breathing problems. Kindly consult your physician for the reasons for combining these two medications.
