Dear Doctor, My daughter is 2 years and 5 months. She had fever (went up to 102 degree) and loose stools since last Sunday. We had given crocin syrup from Sunday night and also Meftal syrup (only once). We had consulted a pediatrician on Monday. He had suggested to continue crocin and also prescribed an antibiotic (Pratham- only to be given if fever continues for more than 2 days). He had also prescribed Bacilac (probiotic) for loose stools. The fever has come down since yesterday night and did not occur after that and we have stopped crocin and we have not started on antibiotic. However, my daughter still passes loose stools (not watery but semi solid) 5 times a day till today. I am continuing on probiotic 2 times daily. Should I give her the antibiotic also to set right her digestive problem. If so will Pratham be OK. Please suggest.
