Can Aortic Stenosis Cause Erectile Dysfunction?

I am 63, 165 pounds and 6ft tall. I have been diagnosed with aortic stenosis. In all ways I am currently a-symptomatic - I exercise, swim, walk long distances with no shortness of breathe. Can aortic stenosis be the root of erectile dysfunction? Can someone with aortic stenosis safely use any medications like Viagra?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Aortic stenosis may can cause exertional dyspnea, angina pain, peripheral organ reduced perfusion is common.

You can't use Sildenafil if you suffering from aortic stenosis unless your associated pulmonary hypertension.

You can use Viagra if already using nitrates for angina pain which may cause dangerous hypotension.

Please consult your cardiologist, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Don't self medicate.

Take care.
