Can Bacterial Infection Lead To Contact Dermatitis On Knee?
I am a 50 year old woman. Healthy, and not overweight. I was visiting our state fair three weeks ago, suddenly felt an intense itch behind my knee. I had a welt like a bug bite that itched like crazy. Three days later it was an infected area the size of 2 quarters with blisters and cellulitis. Culture was positive for heavy growth of A. lwoffii and I was treated with bactrim. Within a week the blisters had spread to my other knee and now it is being diagnosed as a contact dermatitis. Is it possible the bacterial infection led to the contact dermatitis (now being treated with topical cortisone)?
