1. yes, in infections, sugars can rise if there is a severe infection.
2. in unknown diabetics, with high sugars, the infections are more common, and in fact many times the sugar is diagnosed due to the infection
3. in severe infections, sugars may also fall

steroids. and in that case sugars may spike.
metronidazole is not known to cause high sugars
