Can Benedryl & Prenasone Cause Problems In The Taste Buds And How Long Will It Take To Disappear?
My girlfriend has been taking benedryl, and prenasone for an allergic reaction to a sulfur drug. Since finishing her prescription she had problems with her taste buds. Is this related to the drugs that were taken, and how long will it take for this reaction to resolve itself.
Hi, Benadryl contains antihistaminic drug which can cause dryness in tongue and altered taste. It will not have any direct effect on the taste buds. Loss of taste buds may be a consequence of allergic reaction she had for sulfa drugs earlier. it is just that it presented late making you suspect the drug as the cause. Regeneration of taste buds take 1-2 weeks, after which she should feel the taste normally. Hope this helped.
