Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has bipolar disorder which is well-controlled. He is both med and therapy compliant. However, when he is relaxed or fatigued, he exhibits as shuffling gait that is quite distinctive. I am wondering if any of his meds -- Buspar, Depakote, Trazadone -- may cause this symptom over the long term.
I think, your husband has bipolar depression and in that case, he should be on mood stabilizer and antidepressant. Fatigue and shuffling gait could be due to depakote. In that case, you can consult his psychiatrist to either decrease the dose of depakote or shift him to another mood stabilizer. In case, you need further help, you can ask.
Thanks
