Can Bird Allergy Cause Infection In Just One Eye?

We got a parakeet 2 days ago. The next morning i woke up and my left eye was mattered shut. After a warm compress it is now reddish pink and has been for 2 days. Slightly itchy and some slime. I was wondering can you have a bird allergy and only show symptoms in 1 eye.

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having bird allergy and having symptoms of redness of eyes indicating infective conjunctivitis.
This can occur in one eye to begin with and it may become bilateral as the infection can involve the other eye also as a result of spread of infection by close contact with the infected eye.
The treatment is by use of antibiotics and anti allergic eye drops.

Thank you
