Hi,I am Dr. Robert Galamaga (Hematologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my wife is 27 years old , 5ft 6" and 150lbs . She had a blood transfusion after delivering our daughter about a month ago she sometime complains that her skin is itching / scratching, is this a result of the transfusion or is it related to the pregnancy?
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. No, it is not related to pregnancy. 2. Check bilirubin levels, if elevated, will need liver function tests. 3. Pregnancy complications, would not be seen after delivery. Allergic cause or hepatic cause requires evaluation. Check for eosinophils, IgE levels and liver function tests. Avoid scratching, as it will start a cycle of scratching by releasing more chemicals. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
