Hi,I am Dr. Carol Rogala (Emergency Medicine). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my friend had cataract surgery and suffered extreme redness and complications after he was given a shot to numb his eye. after a month or so the eye had no healed and he suffered a stroke which was severe. question, could the surgery have caused a clot which moved to his brain. thanx
Highly unlikely because now a day cataract surgery are done by phacoemulsion with no vascular approach.as lens it self is a avascular structure.minimal access aproach is taken. Clot in brain could be due to hypercoagulable state of blood or uncontrolled blood pressure.
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, if it was the infection the caused the internal bleeding then it could cause the cerebral manifestation but it can not be sure to rule out this it may need some investigations hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
