Can 'celestamine' Be Taken Safely During Pregnancy?
I am pregnant of 7 months. Yesterday, I went to a doctor because I got an allergy of food. The doctor gave me Celestamine as many as 4 tablest. The doctor said that it was safe to consume Celestamine for me because my pregnancy has been 7 months. I consumed one tablet and my allergy is cured (not itchy). I plan to stop consuming the three remaining tablets. My question is : Is Celestamine really safe for my pregnancy? Is it right to stop consuming it if I have been cured? Thank you
I have gone through your query and have understood your concern.
Celestemine is a corticosteroid Medicine. At 7 months of pregnancy it does not have any ill effects on the foetus of a normal pregnancy if taken in limited dose and for limited period. In fact, some times when premature labour is threatened, we give corticosteroid in a limited dose to the mother for the maturity of foetal lungs. However, it has to be discontinued well before the delivery.
One tablet a day for four days is a short dose. It can be taken safely. However, if you feel you are cured of your ailments you had, you may discontinue the medicine after reporting so to your Obstetrician.
Please do not be under stress for this dose of celestamine.
