Can Cervical Ectropy Cause An Abnormal Pap Result?

Can cervical ectropy cause an abnormal pap result? I'm very worried as, for the last couple of months, I have experienced both breakthrough and post coital spotting. The spotting is very light, just small spots of blood and pink on the tissue. I gave birth (ventouse delivery) 10 months ago and have had three periods since. I have never before had any problems like this and have always had normal pap results until this most recent one. My GP thinks my spotting is due to a cervicsl ectropy but this has not been confirmed. I'm scared that I have full blown cancer, particularly as I am also experiencing periodic 'aches' in the groin area where my lymph nodes are. No swollen nodes (i think)
