Can Cigarette Smoking Cause Chest Pain And Anxiety Disorder?
I am 19 years old, male, and have been smoking cigarettes for about a year now, and just recently started experiencing chest pains when I inhale deeply. I also suffer from anxiety disorder and am a hypochondriac to say the least. Also, could the chest pains be from lack of sleep?
I do not feel that the chest pains are due to lack of sleep. In my opinion, the most likely cause is impaired lung functioning due to smoking. In addition, anxiety itself can cause breathlessness but is unlikely to manifest as chest pain specifically on lung expansion. I would suggest that you quit or at least cut down on smoking, and see your doctor. An X-ray examination of the chest should also be done.
Best wishes.
