Hi, My dad was admitted in the hospital on June 21 for severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and nausea. The scans showed a blockage in his colon and spots on his liver. They removed his blockage a diagnosed my dad with colon cancer that spread to his liver. He came in three years ago, to the date and the doctors didn t find anything. Is this possible? Did they miss it or is this condition harder to detect in the early stages? Any information you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Brittany Harmon
Hello dear. Hope you doing well. Yes, colon cancer can be detected in early stage by routine endoscopic surveillance or stool examination and if found, complete cure is possible. But if you do not undergo surveillance, then it can present both in early as well as late stage. Consult your physician or gastroenterologist for surveillance testing. regards
