Can Coming In Contact With Infected Blood Cause HIV?

I recently went to a historical hot springs to soak in the healing untreated sulfur mineral waters. There was a man who got out of the pool who had a toe that was bleeding from being stumped. This worries me with the possibility of HIV or some other disease. Can you tell me if this put me at risk? I got out as soon as I was aware of the situation. I don t know the history of any of the men in the pool. Thanks, should I stay away from this type of pool? Thanks again

Hello there,
It is highly unlikely that you are infected by HIV. HIV would spread if blood from an infected person enters your blood, or by sexual contact if semen enters your blood through any injury in your private parts. Even with being pricked by a needle the chances of getting infected are as low as 0.5%. So do not worry and practice safe sex. Such pools where people enter without cleanliness precautions can spread skin diseases if at all. Its always better to stay protected but do not be paranoid. Clean yourself well after coming out of these pools which is enough to keep you away from diseases.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

No worries, HIV does not stay alive for more than few seconds. It dies once it comes into contact with environment. HIV can't be transmitted through this way.
