Can Complications While Administering An Epidural Shot Cause Inflammation In The Pancreas?
can a improper epidural birth injection cause an inflamed pancreas? My daughter in law has been hospitalized for four days on morphine and they are saying they THINK it may be the birth control chip inserted in her arm. We just want to know is it possible this came from the improper epidural injection she received the gentleman missed twice.
First of all, do not panic. Inflammation of the pancreas is called as Pancreatitis. It can be due to viral or bacterial infection or due to the autoimmune response of the body. Please fully trust in your treating doctor. Epidural analgesia process during delivery or subcutaneous contraceptive implant, should not cause pancreatitis as such. But the treating doctors might be thinking to find out the cause for the same, that's why they might be trying to rule out the possibility of a source of infection. If there is no evidence of infection at both the sites, that is at the epidural injection site or contraceptive implant site then they need to find out other causes for pancreatitis.
