Can Constant Use Of Inhalers Cause Neck Tightness?

I thought sleep apnea was causing my neck to feel tight and my chest. The test came back mild. So now I think it must be asthma which I only prior had with coughing or bronchitis. My dad was ill and just died so I had anxiety which could be a factor. I had a brain scan which was fine, a chest xray also fine and can blow to 100% on the oxy thing. I have been using inhalers pretty constant for about a month. Could that cause neck tightness?

Hi,
I understand your concern.
have read your query carefully & will try to satisfy you.
Inhalers for asthma are not known to have specific side effect as neck stiffness.except for effect of excessive steroid inhalation causing weakness of bones ( osteoporosis )..which can make neck more reactive to excessive neck strain/ through activity/ bad resting postures.
- Psychological strain is another condition which can cause neck stiffness in your case.
You should try following things for it's management..
- Avoid over exertion to neck, correct the sleeping posture,
- Take calcium & vitamin D supplements .
- Physio therapy helps./ fomentation reduces the symptoms.
- Non steroidal Anti inflammatory drug over the counter taken twice a day after food for a couple of days would reduce the stiffness a lot.
* if there is no relief with all of these, you should consult a orthopedic specialist .for problem of cervical spine can cause such problem & it can be managed well with a doctor's help.
Thanks.
