I had an ultrasound done at 5 week and 2 days pregnant last Saturday which was 3 days ago. It showed a gestational sac with what might be tissue inside but no yolk sac or fetal pole. My hcg level was at 19,590. Should they have seen a yolk sac at that level? I am 42 years old and have had 3 miscarriages at 5 or 6 weeks. My anti cardio lipin level has been as high as 17 and i was advised to take baby aspirin from conception. I didnt know that i was pregnant even though my husband and i were trying so i started taking the baby aspirin over a week ago. My lmp was on october 31 and we believe we conceived on november 9. Should we see more than a gestational sac with what might be tissue inside and no yolk sac. Again my hcg level on Saturday were 19, 590. I feel like I could have prevented a misscarriage by taking the baby aspirin from conception :( I am scheduled for an ultrasound with a new obgyn in two days.
Hi there thanks for posting your query at HCM Since your hcg levels are very high it is highly without doubt suggestive of pregnancy Presence of anti cardiolipin antibodies is suggestive of the history of miscarriages that took place As you were already informed you should have started your aspirin therapy well much in advance Anyways the ultrasound findings are too early to suggest anything Sometimes we are not really perfect in telling our lmp That why your gynecologist has called you to see that the fetal pole has developed So that you confirm that fetus is alive or not (no cardiac activity) I advice you ask your gynecologist further to take aspirin or not Till then stay calm Take care
