Can Continual Vomiting Of Bile Days After Hysterectomy And Vaginal Reconstruction?

My mom had a total hysterectomy, bladder sling et vaginal reconstruction surgery done on Monday, July 14. She is in the ER for the second time with continuous vomiting, sever pain and dehydration. The ER doctor has put a NG tube down her nose. He said it will let out all the excess gas. She also has not ate since Sunday the 13th. she keeps vomiting up bile. Not just a small amount, but approx. 100-300ml per time at least 4 times a day. She has been unable to take her hydrocodone due to the vomiting. Is this common? They did do an x-ray and saw an excess amount of gas. But, I feel this is not normal and worried they have knicked her bowel.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is very unusual after hysterectomy. Consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated. An MRI scan is required for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
