Can Costochondritis Cause Burning Pain In The Upper Abdomen?

Hi, I have had costochondritis for a few years, it would flare up then go away within a few hours, and seemed to flare up when I raked leaves or swept. Lately it has become more chronic and especially after I eat I get pain that feels like costo. Is this a possible problem with costo? Sort of a burning pain in my upper abdomen. Should I see my doctor?

Hello,

Costochondritis cannot cause the burning sensation in the upper abdomen. I think you might be suffering from gastric issues.

Having food to the one-fourth of the stomach full should be good rather filling it full.

As full filling or overfilling of the stomach may lead to additional pressure on the diaphragm and by this can lead to pain in the costochondral joint while breathing mechanism.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
