Can Dehydration Cause Sharp Pain In The Upper Abdominal Area?

I am having a sharp pain in my right upper abdominal area. I have checked with a staff member since Iive in a senior residence. She told me to drink lots of water. I also have had a fowl smell to my urine for two days. Thought it might be a bladder infection, but now they thought it could be dehydration.

Hello and welcome to `Ask A Doctor` service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

* The dehydration will not cause sharp pain in upper abdomen unless
associated with internal abdomen pathology.

* The foul smell urine may be concentrated urine or infection, must get
checked with urine microscopy examination for further guidelines.

I would like to admire your further doubts anytime.
Take care.
