Hi,

Some amount of menstrual irregularities can be seen while using the contraceptive measures. You have not mentioned what is the type of birth control you are using. Usually in cases of hormone containing birth control methods sometimes few months of amenorrhea can also be seen and that may not indicate pregnancy always.

As you have taken the birth control method during the first three days of your menstrual cycle the possibility of pregnancy is less. If you want to be sure, please go for a blood test for pregnancy to rule out the possibility. If the serum beta HCG levels in the blood test are less than 5 mIU/mL it rules out the possibility of pregnancy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
