Can Depo Pravera Shot Cause Increase In Blood Sugar Level?
I have never had an issue with my blood sugar. was tested about 2 yrs ago with the sugary mix after 2 hours and still levels were under and good. Yes I am overweight but have been this weight for sometime now. I am taking the Depo Pravera shot and am wondering if this is the reason now that my blood sugar levels might be high. I was tested at 110. Thank you.
Hello The normal blood sugar level is 70-110 mg/dl( others say it is 80-120 mg ) . On empty stomach i.e. fasting level is 80-90 while after food ( 2 hours also known as post postprandial ) 120-130 depending type of food . So in your case 110 is not a high level . Dpeo provera is medroxyprogesterone and its side effects are nausea , dizziness , WEIGHT GAIN/LOSS , anorexiafatigue etc . There is no scientific proof that it increases BLOOD SUGAR level in an individual , however in few patients in may increases or decreases weight i.e alter in weight . So in my opinion get blood HBA 1 C level to rule out any thing about DIABETES . Good luck.
