Can Depression Be Treated By A General Practitioner?

hey, i was just wanting to ask a quick question about visiting my local gp

1. can they tell my parents about my visit without my permission(im 15)
2. can i just walk in and get seen or do i HAVE to make an appointment
3. can a gp help me with depression or do i need to see someone else

I understand that you have doubts about your GP consultation. I'd be happy to clarify all your doubts. So, here are the answers to your questions:

1) You can be see a GP and consent to treatment if the doctor believes you mature enough to understand what is happening. This law is called Gillick Competency.

2) You have to make an appointment with your local GP.

3) A GP can help you with Depression. However, if he / she fels that there are other complications or a need for psychological intervention, he may refer you to a psychiatrist or psychologist.
