Can Diabetes Cause Puss Filled Sores?

I have puss filled sores on my neck, central chest area and head, these are very sore.. I have been on anti biotics but they seem to be getting worse. I am due a visit to my GP tomorrow, he has mentioned before it could be due to my type 2 diabetes. any thoughts or ideas..

my suggestion is to do hba1c and fasting blood sugar for evaluation.
