Can Dietary Medicine Cause Blood In Stool?

I am noticing blood in my stool. Today it had a little mucus in it. My stool is passing fine, no pain, but also has changed being very loose. When I wiped yesterday there was a lot of bright and a little darker blood on the tissue. I am taking a dietary medicine every other day..could this be the problem or should I be concerned. I am really scared.

Hello,

Usually the dietary medications for weight loss has laxatives in it which makes a person use the toilet more frequently. What most of these meds do is irritate the gut lining not letting the food absorb into our gut fully. As these meds / laxatives can irritate the gut, if used for longer period of time it can cause GI problems, considering, using such meds is not a gold standard for weight loss.

Therefore at this point id recommend you to go and see you GP so that he/she can perform certain basic line investigations in order to reach the root cause. Because at times passing of blood in stool can be alarming, therefore consult your GP as soon as possible.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
