Can Difficulty In Breathing Be Caused By Possible Strep Throat?

38 year old male, height 5 11 1/2 , 118 lbs. Has lupus, has lung complications with lupus, Pleural effusions w/surgeries to relieve fluid build-up about 9 years ago. Was doing well until a few years ago, a spot was found on the upper right lung. No docs knew what it was or cause. Been having nose drainage when felt something coming on. Was prescribed sinus drops. But would cough more or have difficulty breathing. Faster breathing as well. Last year when having this was prescribed bactrim. Started having sore throat and went to ER. HR was elevated breathing faster and kept to see what was going on. Endoscope found ulcer mid esophagus and placed on prevacid thinking one pill may have gotten stuck. Also placed on antibiotic for possible strep throat. Was wake after endoscope although a little hard to wake up, was eating fruit which vomited, but later put on vent because for grogginess told CO2 buildup. Put on other antibiotics and bronchoscope was done a day or so later. Then told had aspergillosis was put on Voriconazole. Was hallucinating, but told ICU psychosis. After a couple of weeks went for checkups and told docs, still hallucinating, can t sleep. Was told it must be low oxygen when sleeping sent home w/ oxygen and was sent for sleep study. No results from sleep study for about 3 months. Then mailed a letter for second sleep study. During this time even on oxygen as well as having pulmonary therapy, walking mile on incline in 20 min. Feeling stronger lung wise, but hallucinations getting worse, more vivid. Would happen time eyes closed not just at night, but just sitting down and blinking or resting eyes. Pulmonary therapist never saw my oxygen go down during exercise and didn t think Oxygen was needed, Oxygen stayed at 100. Went to home oxygen consult that was set up to check oxygen and was told didn t need oxygen. Had been told needed lung transplant by pulmonologist after this incident and was put on transplant list, but again was feeling better lung wise, just terrible hallucinations. went to another pulmonologist and was told how tired I looked. explained hadn t slept in more than 3 months because of vivid hallucinations. Was told would try to push me up the list for transplant. Went to another doctor because getting worse more tired oxygen hadn t help relieve lack of sleep or hallucinations. During last oxygen appointment, picked up tanks and went to another doc to complain about hallucinations. Was told to get blood samples for toxicity level. Before results came back and 2nd sleep study was performed, but day after oxygen was picked up, had pulmonary/ cardiac arrest. Survived it, had hypothermia treatment woke up within a couple of days after treatment. Was sent to long term acute care facility to wean from vent where was given Ritalin and began terrible spasms. back up a little had began some facial twitching before Ritalin, but was on reglan for stomach tube. Then put on haldol spasms worse and different. From just facial twitching to arm movements to arching and body twisting. Used baclofen but only relaxed berating and swallowing. Now on Ativan which helps. Still have many spasms when Ativan begins to wear off. Was put on cogent in at one point, but started sweating on half of face after a couple of months of using it. When weaned off began having terrible spasms especially with neck turning. One leg extended other leg contracted. Been fighting spasms for a year now in a long term acute care facility. Traech area breaking down cuffs blowing. when given pain meds, I spasm more, but need them sometimes for bed sore. Need diagnosis, people want to push meds, but with lupus and brain injury as well as keep getting side effects that won t go away. Afraid of all drugs. Mostly just on Ativan and pain meds when needed. Except have 25 mg fentanyl patch.
