Can Diverticulitis Pain Go Away On Its Own?

Hi, I am currently having a diverticulitis flare up. I went to the hospital yesterday and they gave me the
normal "new antibiotics". What I didn't tell them was that I have not had a bowel movement in over 4 days.
I just took a 'ducollax' and noticed that my (for lack of better words, sorry) shit was about the size of a baseball and too large to exit. I am in alot of pain and can not take pain killers due to adverse reactions. I really don't want to go back to the hospital. Any suggestions?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* The diverticulitis pain management depends upon the symptomatic severity, patient concern and associated features of clinical evaluation.
* As the passage of hard stool must have made intense intestine colic. I recommend to call your doc for the pain killer, rather than taking an OTC basis medications.

Hope I have answered your query.
