Can Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS) Be Treated Without Surgery?
I AM A POST MENAPAUSAL. 65 YEAR OLD. I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH DCIS 3 AND I REALLY DON T WANT TO HAVE SURGERY OR GO THROUGH RADIATION. GOING THROUGH THE STRESS OF ALL OF THAT, PLUS THAT AFTER THERAPHY MED IS REALLY BOTHERING ME. SORRY FOR MY TYPOS.
Hello DCIS 3 is considered as abnormal among the other types of DCIS. It is limited to the intralobular ducts so a lumpectomy or quadrantectomy is helpful.. But it has the propensity to invade through the walls of the ducts resulting in spread to other parts. So surgery plus radiation therapy for about 6 weeks is the treatment of choice. So without any treatment once the walls of ducts are invaded it gains the ability to spread. Hope it helps.
