Can Ectosone Cream Be Used For Rash From Pads Used For Bladder Control?
I have been using ectosone 0.1% cream for a rash I acquired from wearing pads for bladder control. It was prescribed by my doctor. I never researched it at the time, but I did today, and I see it says not to use it in the genital area. What now. It s never caused me a problem, and it sure relieves the irritation. Should I keep using it, or get my GP to prescribe something else.
Ectosone 0.1% cream contains betamethasone valerate which is a potent steroid and can cause steroids related side effects like Skin thinning and telangiectasia, striae, folliculitis and fungal infections.
These side effects are not site dependant but are prone to develop early in the delicate skin of the genital area, and thus it is not recommended to be used on the delicate skin of the genitals for duration more than 2 weeks.
If i was your treating doctor i would have advised you to use a mild to moderately potent steroid Off & On e.g fluticasone, desonide etc.
take care regards
