Can Enlarged Ovary Be Cured With Birth Control Pill?
I am having continued discomfort on the ride side of my lower abdomen. I went to a doctor awhile ago and she told me that the right ovary was enlarged but that with birth control it would be fine since I would not ovulate. Well, I have been on birth control for 9 months now, and this discomfort has not gone away. I am getting worried. I made another appointment, but it's not for a few weeks. What should I do?

Enlargement of ovary can be seen due to different causes like:
Polycystic ovary disease, Simple Ovarian cysts, ovarian cystadenoma; Rarely malignancies.
As your doctor prescribed combined hormonal pills, there is possibility of Polycstic ovary disease or simple ovarian cyst.
Usually simple cysts of less than 5 cms size will respond well to pills. As you are still having the discomfort even 9 months of treatment, better to review once as you have planned.
During appointment please get examined and go for ultrasound. This will help to find out the present condition of cyst, other possible causes like tubal masses, pelvic infection etc and treatment can be taken accordingly.
Before appointment you can take analgesics if needed to relieve the discomfort. Better not to stop the hormonal pills in middle of the month as that can lead to withdrawal bleeding, so complete the pack.
