Can Excess Sugar Consumption Lead To Metabolic Disorders ?
Hi! I m an 18 years old boy. I take a lot of sugar containg food (much sugar). My question is, am I at any risk of any sugar-driven metabolic disorder since I seem not to see any symptom of any.
Hi,Abiola,
thanks for query,
Nothing to worry for taking more sugar at this age.
Your mother or father is having diabetes then you should keep control taking more sugar.
If you are over weight then also be cautious about consuming more sugar.
Otherwise do not worry.
Ok and bye.
Hello.Welcome to HCM forum.Don't indulge in taking unnecessary high sugary foods. In modern times avoid three W's like white sugar, white flour and white rice. All these things lead to obesity, hypertension and diabetes.Asians are more vulnerable to develop these disorders due to their faulty gene.Good luck and thanks.
welcome to healthcaremagic
many like sweets
there is no wrong in it .but byou should see to it that you have regular exercises and have balanced healthy diets for fit body
do not replace your other items of diet with only sugar containing items
as you are in growing age and if you are not over weight take 3000 calori diet and have active participation in sports and exercises
you can get a diet chart from dietician including your sweet dishes in the chart
Dear Mr Mubarak, hello. Instead of white rice take brown rice and in your white flour add different flours like soya, bajra, gram, etc.Avoid white sugar. You can use honey and jaggary, that too occasionally.Keep doing exercises and remain trim.Good luck.
Hi Abiola Mubarak,
Eating sweets is habit forming and in due course because of excess sugar your calorie intake gos up leading to excess fat formation and deposition in various parts of the body leading to obesity which may or may not lead to a condition called insulin resistance which is a cause of Type2 diabetes[adult type diabetes] in the future, which is, as you have rightly mentioned, metabolic disorder. So, my advice to you is eat sweets in moderation.Alternately, you can consume fresh sweet fruits which will help you in maintaining good health.
