Can Excessive Blood Sugar Levels Cause Permanent Brain Damage?
Hi, my mom has diabetes her blood sugar level went to 434 she thought she was having a stoke, she is in the hospital right now, will there be perminet damage to the brain by this happening? Or any kind of damage? Thank you, Corinne Email YYYY@YYYY

In my opinion,as such excessive hyperglycemia is highly unlikely to cause a permanent damage to brain.If there were comorbid conditions like preexisting atheromatous plaques,uncontrolled hypertension,uncontrolled diabetes etc ,risks for irreversible brain damage may become more if the acute condition is not well managed..With proper treatment, damage most likely would be minimal or reversible.Hope I have answered your question, if any further clarification happy to answer.Take care.
