I have been having intermittent throbbing headaches (occurs about 20-25 times a day for a few seconds each time) for over 6 months. It is usually a throbbing pain but sometimes feels like an electrical current which runs across the top or side of my head or down the side of my nose. I was checked out by my family doctor about 2 months ago who said it was probably stress . I think something is very wrong -- maybe with my eyes. What should my next step be -- should I see a medical eye doctor or a neurologist? Thanks for any insight.
First of all, you should do some investigations such as measuring blood pressure then ask a neurologist for further examination. The hormonal therapy for contraception or replacement therapy in women can cause similar symptoms, so you could a gynecologist for help. Stress can cause headache and eye problems can cause headache. But, the the eye problems make your eyes produce tears and affect the vision.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mustafa, Neurologist
