Can Fatigue, Hair Loss And Weight Gain Be Associated With Mitral Regurgitation? Is Levothyroxine Suggested For High TSH Level?

I am concerned about my treatment. I had mitral regurgitation diagnosed about 32 years ago, no symptoms since then. I have had a repeat echo about 15 years ago, no one has looked at this since then. At that time the NP at family doc s ordered it because she couldn t hear the heart murmur and wanted to be sure I had it. I have had a Nurse Practitioner diagnose Hashimoto s based on high Thyro PERO (500) along with symptoms and TSH up to 4.25 in Jan 2013; My T4 and T3 were barely within range. She is affiliated with a compounding pharmacy and started me on levothyroxine then increased to a T4 25/T3 5 compound. While I had some initial benefit with symptoms and was able to lose weight for the first time in 5 years (about 8 lbs), since July I am about the same, and my newest labs have the TSH back up to 2. something (it was less than 1 after the first 3 months of levothyroxine). I saw an endocrinologist, wanting to be sure nothing is being missed. But he was just angry I had been put on thyroid meds and didn t really listen and let me finish what I wanted to say. I do think my problems of periodic bouts if large amounts of hair falling out and spurts of sudden weight gain (adding up to 30 lbs in 5 yrs) and increasing bouts of fatigue make sense from a gradually failing thyroid perspective. The endo just said well the antibodies just mean your thyroid might stop working someday . Hello, does that not mean it might gradually stop working over time and I would be basically subclinical with periodic bouts of symptoms based on the antibodies? Also I have had chronically elevated LDL (but my HDL is also very high) and all of this year my BP is in the borderline problem range, running mostly high 130 s or 140 s over mid to high 80 s. And I read this is directly linked to hypothyroid problems. My BP has been fine until 2013 (around Jan), which was when my fatigue worsened and I gained several pounds suddenly. I was trying iodine at that time but stopped after 1 month. That is about the time I saw the NP and got the thyroid labs done and found the elevated thyro pero (redone since then twice and they are still elevated) But I am not sure about the mitral valve contribution. I do urinate an awful lot, particularly at night. I have had sleep problems since 2006 when I was in a stress period (father ill and dying, lots of time in the hospital), at which time I lost weight (down to 112) and my BP went up and a few months later lots of hair fell out. Since then I rarely sleep more than 4-5 hrs at a time. Recently my problems are falling asleep too early between 8-9 o clock, can t stay awake, then awaken periodically during the night, mostly to urinate. I eventually get 6-8 hrs of sleep but never much at a time. I know I need a regular doctor, not just this NP prescribing the compounded thyroid, but don t know how to find someone that will not be like the endo and dismiss the thyroid issues. And should I see a cardiologist at this point? Should I try an internist? I have a family doc but have rarely seen him over the years other than when I get poison ivy or something like that. And a gyno. I am up to date on screenings like pap, mamm. colonoscopy etc and no problems. My D was low but I have it up to 53 now. I may or may not have some osteoporosis (I can explain that if you need). I only take the compounded thyroid, a selenium supplement, D3 5000, lactoferrin, and 500-1000 mg OmegaBrite daily. My antibodies went down from 500 to 330 after I started the selenium in August. Lactoferrin I am taking for my bones. I try to avoid medicines if possible but do want to take care of myself.
