Can Four Flucloxacillins And Two Clarithromycins Be Taken Together For Ingrown Nail?
My husband has got an ingrowing toenail which is really painful. He has already had one course of flucloxacillin 2 weeks ago. He ended upon in minor injuries hospital in Wales Friday just gone, where they gave him another course of flucloxacillin. The hospital told him to go back to his own doctor s when we got back from holidays. He went today and it is still infected. My husband said that the doctor has told him to carry on taking the flucloxacillin 500mg till he runs out of his 7 day course but to start taking Clarithromycin 500mg at the same time. He has to take 4 flucloxacillin a day and 2 Clarithromycin a day. Has my hubby heard correctly. Just a bit worried he is going to take too many. Thank you
As per your case history, of the ingrown toenail, my treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on it. No need for a double antibiotic. 3. Take an NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days. 4. Only curative treatment is nail avulsion done by a dermato-surgeon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
