I am a 40 year old woman who was diagnosed with melioidosis two moths ago. I have received intravenous antibiotics treatment over a month in hospital and am discharged from hospital and now on oral antibiotics for about three weeks. Before I was diagnosed, I started having symptoms in early September such as scalp itching & burning and oiliness and hair loss in addition to low grade fever, fatigue, night sweats and insomnia.
I am still having symptoms (low grade fever, muscle pain, trouble staying a sleep and hair loss/thinning). In respect of hair thinning, I believe it was telogen effluvium as my body went through a shock with infection but my hair is still going crazy (thinning and greying suddenly). I suspect that the long term use of antibiotics is the cause. Do you doctors agree? Is there anything I can do to help improve my hair condition? I am taking probiotics.
Thank you.
